Cephalosource was founded to provide a reliable source of melanin for scientific research purposes. It was started by a scientist who found it difficult to find melanin suppliers and thought that the prices posted by large chemical supply companies are too high.

We work directly with the supplier, so we can offer you high-quality melanin at a lower price than our competitors.

Our partially hydrated melanin has many advantages over lyophilized melanin, which is the form generally sold by large chemical supply companies. Melanin's electrical properties, such as conduction of electricity and piezoelectricity are dependent on its water content, and vanish in the completely dry lyophilized state. Other properties such as its ability to absorb radiation are also boosted in hydrated melanin.
